How Decluttering Can Help You Manifest Abundance

Since everything in our world is made up of energy, then the environment we are in every day is not to be overlooked.

Though having some things around that inspire you can increase your energy and overall happiness, being surrounded by and sifting through clutter every day can contribute to feelings of stress or overwhelm, two feelings that are not conducive to attracting higher frequency feelings and things.

Clutter can also be associated with a lack mindset – feelings of being afraid you won’t ever have the things you need or won’t have the money to buy more of what you need in the future.

This lack mindset prevents you from stepping into a world of abundance, because it’s not possible to be sending out frequencies associated with lack while also attracting back the opposite frequency of abundance.

Therefore, clearing out clutter is well worth the time, as it removes many things that aren’t having a positive impact on your energy (and are likely even having a negative effect on it!).

By getting rid of clutter in your life, you’re not only removing any obstacles that are standing in the way of building your positive energy, but you’re also (literally) making space for more that you desire to come into your life.

Think about it – if your closet is completely full, where will you put the new dress that you’ve been wanting? If your home is packed to the brim with “stuff”, where will the new things you desire go?

Keeping your space open and clean is a great way to signal to the Universe that you’re ready and able to accept more into your life.

Decluttering also is a way of showing respect and gratitude for what you have – by taking care of your space and your belongings, you’re demonstrating that you care about these things which will help you attract even more in the future.

The opposite is also true. If you’re frustrated and annoyed by your clutter every day, you’re sending out energy indicating you don’t like having these things and don’t want any more.

Removing clutter from your life also plays a role in a key manifestation practice, which is acting as if you already have what you desire. In your dream life, is your house messy? Do you save worn out clothes that don’t fit anymore? Are there papers and boxes everywhere?

Everything in your current experience is affecting your thoughts and beliefs, and if you want to harness that power and use it to your advantage, start acting as if you already live your dream life where your wardrobe is full of only clothes that you absolutely love and your house is the same (and always clean!).

The best part is that once you declutter, cleaning is much easier as there is less stuff to move around. After you declutter your spaces, you’ll see how cleaning up becomes easier, taking less mental and physical energy, and you’ll be spending more and more time in a glistening, peaceful environment. What could be better than that, right?

How To Start Decluttering

Think about all areas of your life where there may be clutter – your closets, your car, your desk at work, your wallet. What can you do to organize and declutter in each of these areas?

Remember, you may feel some resistance at first, but then as you start to remove clutter, you’ll feel the benefits and feel more energy and excitement about continuing to declutter.

Here are some of the best places to start:

Declutter Your Closet

Try on all of your clothes and shoes, then designate a box or bin for any that don’t fit well, are worn out, or you just don’t love anymore. You don’t have to get rid of anything just yet, but now you can keep these clothes and shoes in a box out of the way.

If you miss something that was put in the box, take it out and put it back in your closet. If a year goes by and you don’t miss anything, get rid of the box.

Declutter Your Car

This one can be done relatively quickly, and you’ll feel the benefits immediately. Throw away old receipts and trash, give reusable bags a designated space or container, donate the bags of clothes you’ve been driving around with, put the loose change in the center console in a small bag, and vacuum out crumbs.

While you’re at it, drive through a quick car wash. Studies have shown that people are happier in a washed car, even though they can’t see the outside themselves.

Declutter Your Desk

Start a filing system for your paper files, even if it’s a single paper file box. Convert paper files to digital where possible by scanning with your phone into a PDF (this is a feature in the notes app that comes with your iPhone). Shred or recycle what you don’t need anymore, and only keep out on your desk what you need and use daily. Give everything else a home and keep it in its place when not in use.

Declutter Your Wallet

Clean out your wallet, throw away old coupons, give each credit card a designated space, and keep your cash organized.

If you have certain cards that you don’t frequently use, assess whether you still need them and if so, keep them tucked away in a drawer. That way, you’re not always sifting through cards in your wallet to find the one you need.
